I'm pretty certain that "MARK" is missing from the other side of "TRADE."

Yeah, I think it is not military but a company trademark design. I couldn't find out what, tho. The figure is odd, in a kilt, with a beard, and is either poling or oaring, or something. I thought Paul Bunyan, maybe, but haven't found him depicted in a kilt.

My second guess,some kind of logging activity.Some thing to do with some Scottish activity,like the games they have throwing cabers and such.I,m going way out there now,huh?

I went to the newspapers and found that this company did make suspenders etc. - this is from 1867.

Great ID. My guess is the logo represents Hercules stretching a piece of elastic fabric - implying it is very strong.
