Folks, I had a very good day today out in the NC woods. I had a dream last night that I dug a CW belt plate. Well, I didn't find a belt plate today, but I did find enough lead to make one.
I tucked my pant legs into my socks, sprayed myself down with Deet, and headed out into the woods. I'm working a wooded area behind where the new road is going in. There is a big stream here, and many dried up streams/creeks throughout the 200+ acre woods. Basically, a great spot for a CW camp. This area so far has turned up belt keepers, knapsack hooks & snaps, asst'd CW bullets, bullet lead chunks, a no date SLQ, a 1902 IH, and a few buttons.
Wondering around, I decided to follow a 4-wheeler trail through the woods since it was clear and the surface was compacted. That soon ended with a large tree covering the path. I decided to head left, and I'm glad I did. I got a signal out in the middle of nowhere.
I was happy to dig a 3-ringer, but that was just the beginning!!! As you can see in my videos, the bullets didn't stop until I found 14 in the same 4' area!!!
I couldn't believe it!
This is the most bullets I've EVER dug in one spot, and the most in any hunt. Yeah, Baby!!!
I must of dug at least 40 shotgun shell heads and rifle casings too out there today.
Here's my videos. Thank God I had my camera with me this time!!!
A few days ago, I found two other 3-ringers and a nice button.
The button has a "Robinson & Co. - Extra" backmark. Circa 1820's-1830's.
Thanks for looking,
MM
