Folks, I had a very good day today out in the NC woods. I had a dream last night that I dug a CW belt plate. Well, I didn't find a belt plate today, but I did find enough lead to make one. I tucked my pant legs into my socks, sprayed myself down with Deet, and headed out into the woods. I'm working a wooded area behind where the new road is going in. There is a big stream here, and many dried up streams/creeks throughout the 200+ acre woods. Basically, a great spot for a CW camp. This area so far has turned up belt keepers, knapsack hooks & snaps, asst'd CW bullets, bullet lead chunks, a no date SLQ, a 1902 IH, and a few buttons.
Wondering around, I decided to follow a 4-wheeler trail through the woods since it was clear and the surface was compacted. That soon ended with a large tree covering the path. I decided to head left, and I'm glad I did. I got a signal out in the middle of nowhere.
I was happy to dig a 3-ringer, but that was just the beginning!!! As you can see in my videos, the bullets didn't stop until I found 14 in the same 4' area!!! I couldn't believe it! :o This is the most bullets I've EVER dug in one spot, and the most in any hunt. Yeah, Baby!!! ;D I must of dug at least 40 shotgun shell heads and rifle casings too out there today. :(
Here's my videos. Thank God I had my camera with me this time!!! :tongue3:

A few days ago, I found two other 3-ringers and a nice button.
The button has a "Robinson & Co. - Extra" backmark. Circa 1820's-1830's.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Are you open for a suggestion?

I'd hunt every inch of that area about hundred yards in every direction! ;D

Man would I just love to dig one of those 3-ringers!

AMAZING DAY!!! Holy smokes MM - you swung your a$$ off today didn't you... ;D

Congrats on an absolutely fantastic day of "hunting". In case you need a hand carrying all that lead, I'm only about 90 minutes away buddy...

Might be time to put that October group hunt together...

Doug....I can honestly say that I've never come across a spill like that, who know's though, that " box plate" could very well be up the hill a little way's.Very cool vid's too.....love seeing the CW stuff showing face after 140+ yr.'s.You did very well my friend, thank's for sharing. Best of Luck to ya Buddy!!!

Great videos. That has got to be a good feeling pulling all of those sweet 3 ringers out of the ground. You will find that elusive belt plate if you just keep swinging. I'd love to get up a group hunt with the NC boys sometime. GL HH!

Awesome Doug.

Nice digs.

Cant wait to do some more poaching up there ;D

Doug Dude, it is good to see you hitting those CW sites with the passion. Buddy, that is one heck of a bullet spill there. You are one heck of a hunter!

The videos, as usual, are GREAT, buddy!

Thanks MB. You can bet I'll be branching out. I think I best use "all metal" mode out there too.

I have lots of acreage to cover so you are always welcome. Once these bugs are gone it will be a LOT more enjoyable.

Thanks Civil. It's hard to keep up with my northern neighbors on CW finds, but today was an exception. I'll keep trying for that elusive box plate.

I just got back from a BD party and could hardly wait to check out your videos. You had a fantastic day, bro. Big Congrats. It's going to be hard for you to top that one.

Thanks Bob.
I was out there just me and the bugs and no one to watch these babies come out of the ground. After I dug the first few, I figured I had better start filming. Glad I got one on film FINALLY!
I thought of another patch of woods that I hadn't hit yet too. I'll check it out my next time out this week.

You possibly found a soldiers ammo pouch. Or what was left of it, I met a guy once who had found all the right number and types of buttons in one spot the he surmised he had found the remnants of a jacket.

Like I said just a possibilty....Nice find

That could possibly be Kansas.
None of the 14 were damaged and they cleaned up very nicely with a slight toothbrush cleaning.
Thanks for that input.

Thanks for posting those videos! I enjoyed them all....

Thanks KD.
Every time I rolled film in the past I ended up digging up cr-p. :( This time, after the first few bullets I dug and still more signals, I knew I had something good. I was happy as a pig in mud with those bullets. ;D
Lots more out there I'm sure. Deer seasons coming up too, so I'll be sporting my orange vest soon so I don't get shot. :o
Have a great week.

Dave,

How do you like the Tesoro Silver Umax? I just bought one and this will be my first detector without a ID screen. Any tips ? Also have you tried the 10 x 12 coil ?
