Can you post a pic of the back. It's a US army eagle button from about 1850 to 1875. If you could show the back we could probably narrow down the date. If it has a RMDC Raised Mark Depressed Channel backmark ( The letters are raised up and inside a channel) It dates 1850s to 1860 or so.

Yep it's an 1850's to 1860 eagle button. The RMDC backmark is SCOVILL MF'G CO WATERBURY
