Found this effigy rock I believe to be a duck in the Conasauga river . I have found several effigy rocks in the same area . Would like to know time period . This find was on the Tennessee Georgia line on private property . I have taken several pictures showing both sides of the stone, close up frontal view of face and body .

Sorry, it is not an effigy, it is caused by the phenomena called pareidolia.

"Pareidolia (/ˌp?riˈdoʊliə/,[SUP][1][/SUP]US also /ˌp?raɪˈ-/[SUP][2][/SUP]) is the tendency for perception to impose a meaningful interpretation on a nebulous visual stimulus (so that one sees an object, pattern or meaning where in fact there is none).Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, or lunar pareidolia like the Man in the Moon or the Moon Rabbit. The concept of pareidolia may extend to include hidden messages in recorded music played in reverse or at higher- or lower-than-normal speeds, and hearing voices (mainly indistinct) or music, in random noise such as that produced by air conditioners or fans.[SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][4][/SUP]
Pareidolia was at one time considered a symptom of psychosis, but it is now seen as a normal human tendency.[SUP][5][/SUP] Scientists have taught computers to use visual clues to "see" faces and other images.[SUP][5]"[/SUP]

No where in your pictures you posted are there signs of stone being worked.

I would love to see some of your stone tools.

Is there a reason that you came here, then? If you were so certain what it was, then certainly you must have an idea of its time period?

You're coming to a website of enthusiasts, holding babies on their laps and typing work emails while they look at your rock, and they're offering their opinion because you asked for it.

Please show some respect. This forum is here because of incredibly knowledgeable people, like Tony, who come together in a place where we can all offer our opinions, right or not, and try to help others just like us figure out some of the stuff that leaves us scratching our heads.

I was very serious about seeing some of their artifacts I am learning myself and did not mean any harm. One thing I have learned is never assume anything so if I may I would really love to see some of their artifacts concerning stone artifacts . I know all about rocking babies I have raised 7 and now entertaining my grandchildren. If I was going to show disrespect u would have know it. I just figured if u comment on something u must know something about it. I don't know the time period or I wouldn't have ask . The only one showing disrespect Sir is you and I don't appreciate how u have addressed me and assuming what I meant and why are u talking for these guys? Surely they can talk for themselves if they thought I was being rude.

There is an artifacts forum farther down the forum page with Native American artifacts being one of the areas for posts of N/A artifacts you might try there but in my opinion I would think it was natural myself and I am a Native American and have grown up seeing and handling a lot of Native Artifacts.

Google search duck effigy and pick the one that looks close to yours and see what time period is associated with it. I can save you some time though and tell you real effigies look nothing like yours.

What a great idea, then post up the findings so all can see what a purchased opinion says about the item.

Before you spend any money , go over to The Native American Artifact Forum and look around. There is a lot of knowledge on these two sites, but they're not going to tell you what you want to hear, they'll tell you what they see!

I would love to see some of your stone tools.

These were all collected in cornfields beside the Susquehanna River in Broome and Chenango Counties, NY.

A few scrapers and a handfull of spear/knife/arrow points and one awl.
