Need help with a buckle, boy. And now I'm told it's spectacular!

I was doing a little hunting around my aunt's house yesterday, not finding anything of significance, when I stumbled across this item. It looks like a buckle to me, but I'm not all that familiar with styles and whatnot. I'm not sure that the picture will show it, but there is some gilt remaining; there are no identifying marks that I can find. There is a foundation on the property that dates, supposedly, to the 1830's, but this was 200-300 feet from it. Any thoughts? I should add that the buckle's dimensions are about 2x3 inches.

Even without it fully intact, I would call it a banner find as well. Great job on that recovery, fellow PA hunter!

I highly doubt yours is a repro as any CW buckle repros are fairly modern, yours appears to be authentic and extremely cool! A big congratulations  . . I love when a guy finds something that they are not sure of, only to have their mind blown here on Tnet as some of our experts accuartely ID it.

Wow, sweet score! Your chances of finding the other half are very high if no one else has hit the spot with a detector.
