Can't help you with what it might be other than a civilian button, (leaving for the day), but I looked up the backmark and D EVANS & CO.* ATTLEBORO MASS* appears to be in the 1860-1880 timeframe, since it has an inner ring of hyphen like marks. It could be later, the company continued in business to approx end of WW2. Hopefully someone will come up with what it might represent, they did make military and other related buttons, so there is a chance it did belong to a group and not just a civilian dress button.

Interesting. Definitely doesn't look like the typical civilian designed button so I would keep on it.

Hey IP i found a list with the description of this button exactly about a year ago on the net
but i cant seem to find it now..It was just a list with no picture in some button database :dontknow:

It was some kind of military group from Massachusettes but not a common one or Militia.

Its killing me i cant find it or remember ???

this one sounds like it matches your button - unfortunately no pic - or real identification:

That is a match but it does not say the group.

I just was looking through a Mass database and i think it had something to do with the
Massachusettts Corps of Cadets :read2:
This sounds familiar to me :icon_scratch:

I still cant find the button description..
