🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Need help with artist ID.

Picture is of Chinese origin. But artist appears to be a C
Christian? Date is either 1803 or 1903. Debating on whether to bid on this. I like the subject matter, but provenance would be nice. Thank you.

This probably doesn't help much, but the painting is of Canton Harbor in the early 19th C. The international flags flying over the foreign factories tell the story.

I saw a few other paintings from a similar vantage point. This one is from 1805.

I found a few others. If you Google "the English factories at Canton", you can see them. The latest I saw was painted in 1850. Several were valued in the $375 USD range. That's asking price, not sold price as far as I could tell...

It looks like a print to me, very new because the colors are still so vivid.

There is a perspective issue in the forefront on the right. Another print or cheap factory copy?
