Need help with identification

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'm hoping that by putting this out there I may be able to get some help identifying a rock I found as a kid. The Rock was found in the anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania. I have attached several pictures for you all to take a look. As you see it resembles a piece of petrified wood for the most part has a slate coloration and has a shiny metallic like coating. However I do not know if it's actually a metal coating as it is non-magnetic and does not tarnish. Thanks all in advance for any help you can give me.

Ya know, that looks like a piece of "coked" anthracite coal used in metallurgical/smelting applications. Coking is simply heating up the coal in an oxygen free retort to drive off volatile hydrocarbons (coal gas) and leave behind mostly pure carbon, which is then used to steal the oxygen from metal ore (like Iron Oxides) during smelting to leave behind molten metal.
