its germanic coin -- the area known as germany before it was "offically" germany -- was a group of german indepedant "states" the two headed eagle was a common theme on their money.
I appreciate all the feedback. I know these may not be that old, but I would like to get an idea. These are my neighbors coins that he picked up in the Middle East. One of the coins has the serated edges like mordern day coins, but it is off center. A clue maybe??
these coins were highly popular and heavily used in the middle east due to their high silver content they were readly accepted as money by the local arabic people.
The reason it was minted for so many years with the same date is because the population in wich it circulated was used to the silver in the 1780 version.
They are not coppies
when the date changed the population refused to use them.
So they were all minted each consecutive year with the same date.
Hi! I am new here but have been a treasuer hunter for many years. Yes your coin is a M.T. T. and there are many thousands of them around. I have a few myself. However you never know if your coin is new or old cause of the date. Good Luck! Jim
