need info on White's 4900/DL Max Metal Detector

So i found this and will be going to look at it tomorrow, sunday. Can anyone tell me if this is any good and what its worth. Person is asking $50 for it and its in new condition. father died and she does not know anything other than it looks to be new. Pics of it look new too. I just bought an ace 350 by garrett and it will be here next week but was looking for another detector for my wife and kids to use . any info on this would be awesome. It has a blue max 800 coil on it. thanks for the help.

This is older technology but still works well. The only cons I can think of is the weight compared to other machines. It will do the job. You can look up the manual here. http://whiteselectronics.com/info/manuals.html

For $50 it is a steal and White's will still repair them even if something is wrong.

great. thanks I will be looking at it today and more than likely getting it. I will post some pics later.

ok so I picked it up. It looks to be new. Not a dent or scratch on it. has some dust. the coil looks like its only seen carpet. I am printing the owners manual so wish me luck.

Re: need info on White's 4900/DL Max Metal Detector

the 4900 is a 5900 with out a screen get ready to dig .....

This might be an older thread but was interested on how this machine would be on prospecting for nuggets, ect.
How small would this find if any one knows.
Also, what does G.E.B. stand for?

G.E.B. stands for ground exclusion balance, it allows the detector to ignore the mineralization surrounding the target. Common feature in today's detectors.
The frequency of this detector, at 6.59 kHz would not be good for nugget hunting.

Ya
I ran the 6000 di-pro sl for 19 years... that analog machine will sound on those deep non Ferris targets and i could feel the old silver in the handle...as deep as any new machine i have tried

get it
great analogue detector discrimination works in tr mode
non motion it will D-tune on the target and make the field smaller maker sure too re click to reset the detector It's the same feature
tesoro put on the out law
A more or less beep and dig detector have fun been eye ball-en one my self.

liftloop

Ya get it
and find the 5.3 BullyEye coil for it in the trash ...you can crank up the power/sen.... that little coil gets realy deep and great separation...there is just something about analog i would have never got rid of it ...just got to tired swinging.....if they could put that stuff into a liter and smaller package it would be killer

tesoro
try's so hard
to get that white's power in the little houseing

Thanks to all.
I will pass on this then. It is on ebay.
I already have my groundhog.
Will keep looking for a nugget machine.

For nuggets, a GMT or GMZ would work well.

let us know how it turns out for you
