I understand the concept and good use of SWS devices, just don't agree with radar detectors specifically used to try and avoid radar detection.

Packer backer: My neighbor is a state trooper! He loves to give out drunk driving tickets, he hates to give out speeding tickets. He told me that is the main reason that tickets are only given at 10MPH over the limit. He said that 70% of the drivers go at least 10MPH over the limit. He drives faster than I do! He said it comes with the badge! I was talking to a friend in Deming N.M. and she got a ticket for going 1 MPH over the limit and you wonder why people buy detectors! The traffic laws are turning into tax laws. In Baltimore there is a parking law that states you must park 6" from the curb, but not more than 12". On a slow day it is used. Your car gets it's best milage at 55MPH so driving slow in the city wastes gas. Driving slow gums up your engine. I have talked to highway engineers that designed the Md. Interstats. They use 80 MPH as a design guide, except Interstate feeders like I83 inside the beltway where space limits specs to 60MPH. Safe driving mainly depends on the ability of the car and the driver.

Back in the last century when I learned to drive, we didn't have speeding tickets on open highways.
Had suggested speeds and recommended speeds.
You could still get a ticket for "Violating the Basic Rule".
Don't drive faster than your vehicle, the road surface, time of day etc. would be prudent.
An old truck with bald tires should not do 45 mph in a rainstorm.
A new Corvette with good tires on a sunny day with good visibility could go 85 or more.
I was once clocked at 105 on a sunny day on open road - could see for miles ahead.
It's great fun!
Most tickets now are "Revenue Enhancements" for the gov.
Lots of folks out of work - no income taxes from them.
