Never give up! Cut Silver

[ynpto804]

I have had a hard time starting this post so....Let me start for the beginning.
I recently received permission for a friend to dig a piece of property that contained line that were occupied by the union army and the Boys in Gray. While receiving permission the owner stated "I doubt you'll find anything" apparently her ex husband had dug it for weekend after weekend for quiet sometime. The first venture out I showed up and introduced my self to the neighbors and got the lay of the the land. After about 3 hrs I had 3 dropped and 4 fired bullets, a grape shot and a few pieces newer brass. But some nice guy down the street invited me to hunt his yard, so I thought this couldn't be bad. Trip 2 almost 3 hrs again and nothing to show. Now I'm thinking Ive dug all the bullets the other guy missed. Trip 3 I dug this piece of cut Spanish silver, a rosy a wheat and a bullet.

Long story short Never give up! I know everyone says it a site is never hunted out but it never made a impact until it happened to me.

If anyone can give me a ID on this it would be super cool.

Happy Hunting

Beautiful coin, the cut ones are have alot of character to me, I've seen a cut large cent cut in 1/4 like yours. I can see some poor soul having to cut his coins. Your coin looks like a 2 reale.

What, you show a sliver of silver, but no bullets?? Curse you. Now, go and photo the bullets for all of us with bullet fetishes.

get used to digging cut spanish pistareens while you're there.. There is likely to be at least one at every colonial site in the region ... and seeing them never gets old

Thanks Everyone, I never thought I would see this pop out of the ground. I was shallow to just barely 2 inches. I'll post pics of the rest maybe tomorrow after my birthday hunt!
