I have been through this 5000 acre section of woods last year on the main trails looking for cellars with my buddy and came up empty..
So looking at a 1870 map im seeing there was a house out there somewhere.. :read2:
Took my mountain bike all day Friday looking in these woods and finally got a small glimpse of a wall
as i ventured off the trails i started seeing lots of walls
Then came across the cellar i was stoked :headbang:
Couldnt find any dig holes and the area is about 50 acres

Headed out this morning with the detector and started pulling finds right away :headbang:
cuff links
the crotal bell still works
Is that other piece a comb :dontknow:
A strange large counterfeit with little squares and numbers :icon_scratch:
I think the small buckle is a civil war buckle..Its got markings and is stamped 1863 :dontknow:

Relic after relic with no coins..About 2 hours of hunting then i hit a spot that was 10x10 and got 5 large cents in a row.. :hello2:

Then the large oval buckle.
I was going over the area where them large cents were and got a signal near the tree, started digging and it ended up being a yellow jacket nest :-\
They were in my shoes stinging me,on my butt and leggs i got stung around ten times.Half hr hike to the truck...
So i got out of there but that spot is hot man :headbang:

Looks like your hard work payed off, great finds.

That 10 x 10 area could have been where they washed their clothing. Was the spot close to the house? Near water source?
Great finds! Congrats

Nice finds and great hunt .... congrats!

Yor probably right :icon_thumleft:

About 60-70 feet behind the cellar on a flat section of hill..

Or it could have been where the old man had his whiskey :laughing7:

There are not really any poisonous reptiles or spiders and such in Rhode Island but a large bee nest could probably kill you...Especially if your allergic :-\
Im not allergic but my ankle did start to swell and has been really itchy since..
Being that far out in the woods by yourself can be dangerous sometimes...

Great score! I have a few of the buckles. I think someone here told me there from a carbine sling.

:thumbsup:They lied to ya.They from the back of trousers

Great finds Johnny!I have seen those buckles dated from 1855-

Very nice relics and coins! I'm in west Tennessee area, and found one of the stag suspender clips in north Mississippi, that salesman's wagon really got around way back then. LOL

Nice Finds Johnny. I LOVE that Colonial Shoe Buckle and the Britches/Pants tightener buckle dated 1863 is nice. I find those ALL THE TIME at Civil War Camp and Battle sites. My oldest of that type is 1854 but have them up through the 1870s. Most of the ones I find are Civil War dates (1861-1865) but that's probably due to the fact that I hunt alot of CW Sites... Great Job buddy, A killer hunt! :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

yo Johnny , Great digs ! You are in the right place but maybe the wrong time 8) human sweat makes bees angry . The recent hot weather has them extremely active , wild and aggressive . Even beat the odds :-\ out of the 50 acres you dug directly over their stinkin' nest . ::) The stings burn and itch for days , as you well know :P I had to let you know that you are not the only one , last week I experienced a similar vicious ground yellow jacket attack . My dig is still there 8) probably a nice old copper .... Six freakin' yellow jacket stings to my neck and two on my wrist . >:( I went back to the nest with cans of wasp killer ... did some serious retaliation to them . dawg

Great new site Blaze! You put the effort into finding it and were finally rewarded. Love the LC's, the stag suspender, the shoe buckle and some of the furnature hardware that looks 18th century.

Where are all the buttons?

Here is my SOLIDE buckle found at an 1850's military site in Texas. Like Josh said, these frequently turn up on military sites, and I also have heard they were used to tighten the waistline of pants,

Steve i said that to..I got only 1 button next to the privy :dontknow:

I have not ventured away from the house to far..I find the harder work was in the fields wrestling with the animals :laughing7:

Keep in mind this was only about 3 hrs at this new site

Great Finds!!! I'd be so stoked...not stung lol Be careful!! I just had my Assk handed to me by a Hornet. Damn thing got me 5 times in my wrist and lower palm. I don't know what it was but it was a dark color. I've never been alergic to stings before. But my wrist started to swell up a little the first night, then it started to itch like a SOB. Then it got bigger and bigger. I decided to go to the ER at 2am when the swelling was just about to my bicep turns out they can have dirty stingers or Bacteria on them LMAO leaving you with an infection to boot. Some strong Antibodys and it went back to normal. Next time something like this happens after it swells a little use something to mark out the swelling, like a pen or marker this way if it keeps getting bigger you'll know right away to get to a doc. If I had waited until morning the infection would of made it to my heart. I wanted to seek revenge on the little terrorist but I had my 3yo on my back. We were going up the stairs of a high deck, when I must of bumped it during prayer. When i looked down at this sudden violent pain. The thing was bitting and stinging me at the same time, like it was possessed . I was worried my little guy was next so I backed down the stairs, falaling :hello: my arm. Then turned an just ran. The people on the deck didn't know what the heck was wrong with me other than I made up a 1 armed screaming dance. lol Sorry to run on here more about stings then finds. Can't wait to see what else that location has to offer.

Super Hunt :D
That's a nice haul of copper, ya got a sweet site there!!
Love that pewter coin, wish i could see the markings you can..
Maybe a Continental Currency...
looking forward to seeing more
Those wasps can sting repeatedly, unlike bees.
I've watched them stick that thing in over & over :o
