Relic Hunting
I got out today with Kyle to a new field that I received permission for recently. I had a decent day for relics. The iron patch was decent but I'm surprised more was not found. I did get a nice brass Colonial drawer-pull, an Infantry CW cuff button, one early button, a thimble (I am afraid it is aluminum) and other doo-dads. The relic of the day appears to be an iron butt plate. Is that what it is and how old? What is the other iron relic? I also need IDs on the relics pictured together. Thanks for looking.

Keep the passion high!

Good stuff Kirk...not sure about the iron but you're in the right area for sure!

I've found an iron buttplate and it did look like that...they don't hold up too well unfortunately.

Could you post a picture here? Does mine look like an early example? Thanks, man!

The iron is a shoe cobblers shoe form

Not an iron butt plate, sorry no cigar for you!

Sorry no Butt Plate ??.
But you got some cool other finds .

Is the I 'off center' on the Eagle I button?.

I personally would have rather dug the I button than a broken Butt Plate. JMO
