After a recent visit to one of the farmers, they mentioned some new fields we could try. Dad scouted 2 of the fields yesterday for 1.5 hours (finds included in the below picture) & decided on 1 of them. Strangely we both agreed to start gridding in the same area, we had the same idea about where might be good. We did 6 hours (12 man hours) in the relatively warm weather :icon_sunny:
After Dad's scounting mission & after only about 10 minutes hunting we were both positive that it would be hammered time any second, but it wasn't to be, well not today anyway

Instead it was Saxon City with 2 8th C Strapends, Pin Head & Clothes Fastener :headbang: (might be our best Saxon day on record) :icon_thumright:
The Lead was off the scale, as we know, no lead, no finds. (picture 1)
LCV Military Button circa 1810
Victorian Reform Club Button
Jettons - 1 Nice early thick French type with Castle (new one for me) :)
1 Lead Token
17th C Token
2 Roman Coins
2 Rose Farthings
1 Royal Farthing
William III Love Token (Sixpence)
Bronze Age (circa 2500BC) Spear Tip :)
Silver Dagger Chape :)
Plus Bits...

Shaun7 we may need a hand digging all the buttons & Lead next Sat, difficult to carry it all

WOW - that site's certainly going to be mega-productive. Nice haul of coins and brass. Good luck to you guys when you return. I have a feeling a multi-hammered day is in your not-to-distant future.

It was kind of strange that we got none & covered a large area. Dad thought we would get at least 2, I thought 1 for definite, so kind of odd. We made up for it in rare Saxon items, which gives us hope for a Sceat, which is 100 times better than a hammered

VERY INTERESTING STUFF

Nicely done!

All the best,

Lanny
