I don't understand the people who are posting that this thread 'hurts Garrett'..... how? I believe MetalDetectingStuff's post that most companies have prototypes in some form of testing, and with Garrett's dinosaur line of the 'green' detectors, I bet they do.
tech stuff takes years to develop before it goes commercial. I have a few friends that work near me for Google in Carnegie, and they have stuff in the works for years before it comes out. just makes sense.
I don't know Garrett's financial situation and P&L statements, but their AT Pro was a home run and they are still having trouble filling orders. I dealth with Garrett twice on service issues. Once with my ProPointer and another on the headphones adapter for my AT Pro. Once was on the phone, and the other was via Email. it was outstanding and exceeded my expectations to the fact that they sent me a new unit out FedEx, and told me to 'send the bad unit back in so they could see where it failed after I get my new unit and a return shipping label.' Trusting I would even send the bad unit back in... and trusting that it was even true.
I remember reading a little 'snippet' on a European site about a detector from a French company that had a completely wireless detector, with a wireless coil, and a head unit you could take off and put on your belt. it also had wireless headphones with controls that you could also adjust the detector with.I posted about it and got emails telling me "you are making stuff up! No one can make that!"... "I don't believe that one bit!, That's something Minelab would come out with and the technology is not even close yet!"...etc.etc..etc... next thing you know? The Dues EX came out in the USA.
I can't imagine the cool tech that is in the pipe from Minelab, Tesoro, White's, Garrett, Fisher, and the other players....
