NEW Garrett Machine Coming!!!

Great post Alan! When you spend what most folks consider "big bucks" you should be justified in expecting cutting edge technology. The development cycle in the MD world is incredibly slow compared to other high-tech consumer electronics. It is a vertical market, and when you combine that with the constant cry to buy USA made, it makes it incredibly difficult for a MD company to to keep prices down and to reduce product development cycles.

Having said all that, I think some of the big players are a little "lazy" when it comes to putting out new products.

Well, we know the Extreme is going to be a PI unit, water proof. Since they already have the infinium, the extreme in all probability will have discrimination. The other bells and whistles won't matter too much to me. I want one!

I'm also of the opinion that some technology stinks! The double D coil is one of them. It is true that they work better in mineralized soil conditions, and perhaps (urban legend?) detect deeper. But they still offer poor pinpointing.

Interesting point. I haven't had that experience at all with my AT Pro. I find pinpointing to work flawlessly, either using the Pinpoint button to find the peak response, then sliding the coil back until the signal drops off, or (my preferred technique), simply Xing the target in Pro Zero mode. 99% of the time a 3" plug is right on top of the target.

No problem here pinpointing at all could not imagine it getting easier. My targets are always in the plug I dig.

I doubt very much that Garrett will release a metal detector soon. They are having a tough time filling the orders both nationally and internationally for the At Series & Ace Series as the demand is so high.

Doubt No More !

The new unit is the ATX-Extreme PI machine At $2400+ it better find it from 10' away dig it and put it in your pouch. The price is too extreme for me but you guys that have money to burn or nothing better to spend your money on go for it. One good thing it will have is Garrett customer service standing behind it. I have two Garrett machines but this one is too rich for me.

Wow. Deja Vu. I swear I just read this 4 other places.

I really like no coil wire to wrap and how small it folds up. I cant even shorten the shafts on my detectors because I have the coil wires taped at about 50 places...well, maybe four or five.

the price will probably go way down in 6 months

If price goes down ill buy one. Oh who am I kidding as soon as I can talk wife into it ill have one. I'm a fan of garrett.

It eventually became available over here............excellent unit to use.........named mine "Hulk"
