A while back I read an article about a guy who used pack goats. They sound like loyal, low maintenance animals..The article convinced me that if I ever decided to head into the mountains with a detector looking for gold the old timers missed, pack goats would be the way to go....

The picture is a friends pack goats taken by her in an Idaho wilderness area...

I never knew how popular they are becoming until doing a couple of google and facebook searches.

Cool idea Ron. I know several bowhunters that have Llamas, and
from what I've heard, once ya get 'em trained they can make great pack animals.

If I had goats, I'd hang a big, loud bell around their neck of
every one of 'em. That way, if a grizzly grabs one when you're
sleeping at night you'll at least have some warning.

Keep in mind that if you're handling goats all day, you're going to
smell like a goat pizza to those bears. eating-02.gif
