New to the hobby

Hello everyone! I have had a Radio Shack 1000 for many years but never really figured out how to use the functions (disc/tone) but I have found some very helpful tips in some of the posts on here. So far I have just detected my yard and found enough nails to build a house and 40 cents, one of the penny's was a 1964 date wich is kinda cool. I grew up in Pulaski Co. Va. But now live in Christiansburg Va. Anyone close by I would like to hear of some good finds and maybe some places to try my luck! Thanks,

Welcome to Tnet. Glad you're learning more about the detector. Have you air tested it with different coins so you can tweak your discrimination?

Loco-Digger, I haven't tried an air test, I just watched a YouTube video that also suggested it so hopefully I can do that soon.
