TORRERO
30+ YEARS, XP DEUS I & II ARE MY ONLY MACHINES
Last Monday, me and a friend went to a place I saw where they are going to tear down 4 houses and build
a shopping center... they had already started to bulldoze the property and it was real muddy as it had rained in the morning.
We spent 2 hours around the 1st 2 houses and I got a ring of unknown type of material. (looks like silver, but a lighter, but too heavy to be aluminum... I don't know what does Platinum look like ?) lots of zinc pennies
some quarters and dimes, the usual house fare... my friend dug regular coins also, but he was also
getting a lot of wheats.... by the time we left the 1st 2 houses he had 5 wheats and me only one...
there were 2 more houses at the top of the hill, so we headed there...
I have to go for now, but will finish this later...
sorry...

PART 2
We headed up to the other houses, after spending 2 hours around the first ones...
like I said they were going to tear them down, but they looked like hobos lived in them...
the doors were open, and some of the windows were broken, I actually went inside one to check it out...
but after digging a good amount of modern coins and my buddy digging all the wheats... except one...
we went to the other houses.
I had not pulled my truck into the driveway more than a minute when a man pulled up behind us, and stopped and
asked if we had permission from the owners....
I could see where I though this was going.... but it didn't...
He said that a Nosy neighbor had seen someone walking around the houses and called him to check it out.
After we showed him what we were doing he told us, that they are going to put in a shopping center, and office park...
and we could look all we wanted as they were going to bulldoze all these house...
So back to hunting we went...
At first there seemed to be no signals at all compared to the other 2 houses..
but then I got a deeper target, 4-6 inches, sounding good, and dug a wheat cent in the front yard...
futher on I dug another, and so far no modern coins... strange I thought..
Then around one of the big oak trees in the front, I got a real nice signal at about 6 inches...
I use a Whites DFX, and it sounds off nice over deeper coin targets.
This one turned out to be a 1939 Mercury Dime..
I said Hey buddy... I got silver... the first of the day....
But probably not less than 10 minutes later I looked over and he was on the ground yelling that he too had gotten a
Mercury dime.. OUCH...
So we were even, so a he kept going around that house I decided to go to the next yard as the signals seemed to
have petered out a bit.. you know how it is.
Over in the next yard.. this is the last yard, I think I got 1 or 2 wheats, and then another signal that sounded like it
was going to be another wheat at 4-5 inches, but digging down, and looking in the dirt, I saw the glint of silver..
It was a Rosie, and I yelled at my partner and swung the coil back over the hole only to get another target.
This time, a wheat cent came out, but again another swing, and another signal and this time I pulled a small piece of
dirt up and showed my buddy the silver rim of another silver coin...
I wanted to keep it in the dirt, but he told me to clean it off so he could see.... that of course after calling me
every name in the book....
Well it was another Mercury dime, I almost can't believe this, but the fun was not over yet....
By this time my buddy came over to the area where I was, I assume to get some good luck rub-off..
And as he was standing there, I got yet another good target signal, and I told him that this also sounded like a good coin
signal, I asked him to check it because he was standing right there close to me.
He said : it reads like a half dollar on my machine, but I was skeptical, I took my shovel, and put it in the ground and flipped
over the dirt, and there looking up at both of us, was a big round silver coin, a walking liberty half dollar, and
on top of the half dollar, like someone placed it there was a Mercury dime...
I just about fell over..
after this it started to get dark, so we moved back toward the car, getting ready to leave..
but no more silver that day...
I went back this past Sunday, and in pouring down rain, re-hunted the front yards with a different machine.
I got 2 more wheats, and a Buffalo nickel, 1926. I will be back, hopefully before they bulldoze those houses and for sure
after....
some picks coming soon !!!
