newbie from New Mexico USA

Long time lurker on this site and figured it was time to join. My children infected me with gold fever a couple of years ago and we have been hiking the hills with a classifier and a couple of buckets a few days each year. This year my son turned 13 and we picked up a gold cube. We actually have more than just a few specks for the first time and decided to get a metal detector to try finding a few "flakes". Mostly just love the chance to hike the desert with the kids and watch their excitement, but would love to learn to find some gold to actually cover the bottom of a bottle.

Hi NMhunter, Im from down south in Las Cruces. I get up that way to fish when the water is running. You have a great area to hunt gold. If I remembered Ill drop you a line next time Im up.

hi NMHunter,
I am from Edgewood just east of ABQ.
I was actually in your area the beginning of April, trying to meet up with some guys from CO.
after the 3 hr drive to Caballo and a 2 hr goose chase to find the crew I only got to dig for an hour but it paid well for my first real expedition to that area, nothing a detector would have found but made me real happy. I am wanting to get back down there for at least a full day before the years end. Maybe we can get togeather if I get down there.
