Hello everyone was wondering if i could get some suggestions? I'm married with two young boys and me and the wife want to get a detector so that as a family we can go out with and do things together we are already Geocachers but wanted to try something different since the boys like to dig in the dirt already we thought this would be a good idea. So my questions are what is a good detector that is mid range under $500 that would be a good starter for us, which brands are better and what other accessories do we need to get started. Thank You for your time!

Welcome to Treasurenet!

With that budget, you can get a decent detector, a pinpointer and some digging tools. I like the Garrett Ace 350, it's under $300 and leaves you money for the other things you will need. I have a webpage that is geared for people new to the hobby, feel free to click it below my name.
