Newbie's luck?
I've been lurking on this forum for awhile, reading up on detectors. Finally pulled the pin on a White's M-6 from Ebay and it showed up yesterday. The wife & I were like kids on Christmas morning. Even though it was a used machine, I couldn't tell it from new. Anyway I put it together, and like every newbie I imagine, headed out to the back yard. I followed the quick start directions, and started swinging away. I've never had a detector before, but we've always wanted one.
Anyway, in the span of about 4 hours I managed to find a clad Rosie, a clad quarter, three pennies, (1 a modern, 1 Canadian, and 1 1927D), a washer, several flattened beer/pop cans, and best of all, a nice silver Mercury Head dime (1927). I can't imagine the finds I'll have when I really learn how to use this thing. Other than darkness, 90+ temps, and the mosquitos that were carrying me away, I'd have still been out there. I'm hooked & haven't had this much fun in the summer since I was a kid!
I really enjoy reading the forum, and look forwarding to posting a quality find one day. Take care folks, and keep 'em swinging!
