Nice colonial shoe buckle

Found this last week in the mud and muck at an early site. The leather tounge of the shoe was still on it which I thought was pretty cool. The buckle is pewter and in great shape. Also got a couple of flat buttons. Thanks for looking!

That is one pretty shoe buckle, the leather still there is really neat, hope you preserve that hunk if you can. I agree with Cru, it does not appear to be pewter, more like the normal brass type ones, I have a similar stock type buckle that has ornate marks somewhat similar to the way yours is designed.
