Went for a walk around the pond this afternoon. Found this one. It's cool and unlike all the quartz I've been finding lately.

Real cool. It looks like it has layers Like slate.

Thanks. What looks like a crack running down the middle is actually just a black line in the stone. Same for the line on the left side.

Cool, I have some similar material with white lines, or veins.

I'm not sure what it is. First one I've found made out of this stuff. Going to show it to a few people here to see if anyone local knows what the material is. I'm on the coast in Massachusetts, I don't think we have any rhyolite here.

But you do have a lot of slate.. and siltstone.

I think you might be right about it being slate. I have a couple siltstone ones and this is definitely a bit different.
