no beep and dig for me

The people who can't get good finds with a beep and dig are mediocre at best metal detectorists. I've noticed the "Little ***** Syndrome" with everything from cars to metal detectors. They think the more they spend the better it is. Dirtscratcher really really really sounds like an idiot trying to justify his purchase. "Lifetime warranty is silly''? No person with a working brain would rather pay for something again.

You pose like that and call me an idiot. My explorer cost me 400 dollars so by your thinking I should be telling everyone how good my vaquero is because I paid 450 dollars for it. Once again you pose like that and I'm the idiot. To use what I consider inferior detector just because it has a lifetime warranty IS SILLY.

How many $400 Explorers are there available? Is there a never ending supply of used Explorers for sale from now til the end of time? I just find it comical that people think Minelab is the be all end all of metal detecting. I hunt almost daily with two guys who both use E-Tracs and I can honestly say I've never seen any finds from them that warrant $1,500. Like I said, people think price buys performance in all cases. Sorry, just my opinion.

What I don't like is people insulting other Detectors. I have hunted with a Vaquero and a Bounty Hunter Track IV. Only been on 8 total hunts, yet, I have found my first silver, a silver ring, and clad and 2 artifacts with the BH, an old 1904 souvenir coin that if correct, is gold plated and some clad with the Tesoro.

What I find is people think because they have some machine that is better, they think they find better. Want in on a big secret? If the treasure is not in the ground, you won't find it even with your fanciest detector. Me, I will use my Vaquero, and learn it well. I won't insult others purchases or brands. People find good stuff with the Vaquero, and other detectors.

I would say, stick to the detector you like, and try to be a good person and pillar of the Metal Detecting community.

Just my 2 cents in clad.

I don't think my explorer is the end all. But it is the best I've personally used in yards and parks, and I've been at this for over twenty years. One place I can't use it is a couple of ghost town sites we found recently. So I will be buying a f75 or t2 with target id. Everyone has there own opinion and mine is tesoroes are the most over hyped detector the vaquero being the most over hyped of them all. I see explorers atleast the older ones going for4 to 5 hundred every now and then.

Overhyped but are not in the top in sales . Apparently you don't know what over hyped means . This place is getting as bad as Facebook . I have the cibola , I like it . I has a ace 150 and delta , no so much . Who the **** cares

Ummm no. The distinction of most over hyped by far are the Minelab E-Tracs. Just pass the coil over the ground and the silver just jumps out of shear respect. Hell, it doesn't even need to be turned on. No, it's true!

ive had a tesoro outlaw for acouple of weeks now and just cant seem to spend the energy into learning the machine ...ive hunted my yard to death and figured it would be a good machine to see what i missed but after ground balancing it and looking for some beep's i came up with iron....so i dug alittle more solid signals ...came up with pull tabs and beaver tails...that was with turning the discrim up to about the dime /quarter area...so i gave up on it and im back to the root of all evil...the garret ace 350 /cry
Yep! It is hard to believe that companies would use a VDI on machines that doesn't work and can charge $800 or more. Someone would've been onto this scam by now. Their is a language to multi tone, VDI machines as well. The display is part of that language. It is a VERY steep learning curve on a machine with one tone. It can take upwards of a year for some to learn the 'language' (some just never get it). I don't have that much time to waste on learning a machine. I now use a Minelab, and it's MUCH more complex than a beep & dig, (19 tones, now that's what I call a 'language') but I've already learned enough in 2 hunts to realize how much I've been missing with my beep & dig machine. It may come easy to some. Some like a challenge and if they want to spend their time learning it, to each his own

Nice website!

Everyone has there own opinion no one here digs the same spot nor area ur gonna have loyal whites loyal minelab loyalty tesoro no point in bashing each other over there preference in detector they use we all look for the same treasure no matter what we use the people we should be bashing are those who make the ground into swiss cheese & give a bad name for mding period all it is my machine works great for me might not for the next guy his might not work for me but will for him

Exactly right and well put. The beep & dig just wasn't for me, someone else may really love theirs and it may work better for them! I think one does need to try different machines if they want the best detecting experience for that particular person. I had to try different machines before I realized that I enjoy some better than others (for my particular detecting type at least) :happy3:

Yup its really how I think as well I've had many brands just like testing out different cars there all gonna get u there to ur destination just its on ur preference on how u wanna do it me I like my VDI detectors I like my prism4 I like my Atpro & especially like my new one the v3i & those all work for me just how I.like I don't believe in.bashing cuz he or her use minelabe or fisher tesoro etc we r all looking for the same thing

I wouldn't say that people who can't get good finds with a beep are mediocre. Lol. I am deaf with a cochlear implant with very residual hearing but using a machine with good visuals are pretty important and cost a little more. I am pretty good at anything I do because I work harder to make my other senses work for me. Sometime you got to spend a little more to get what works for you.

You know the nice thing about the vdi is you dont have to go on a pull tab digging heaven to get some nickels....i may miss alot of them while coin hunting but i do dig nickels almost every hunt im on ...sure some of them beaver tails will confuse my machine but i dont have to dig tons of pull tabs if im only looking for coins...and i dont have to stand over each target turning my discrim knob up and trying to guess what the target is ...the real advantage is the depth gauge i know an iffy target at 6 inches is more likely to be something good rather then a 2 inch iffy signal.....maybe im spoiled by the newer machines

I like having a machine that give a good depth indication. A lot of stuff has been missed because some one give up to early.

It's not just the display that makes a good detector by any means. A detector with great iron disc and iron 'see-through' is a big selling point if you are mostly interested in coins. Fast response, target separation, etc... are all things to take into consideration.

That's why I went away from the first two vdi machines I had . Slow recovery , poor separation and the vdi display was just random . Depth good . The cibola is working good so far .

Well as known I don't bash anyones choice on detector used cuz like I said before we r all when it comes down to it looking for the same thing just shows that some people like the vdi for specific reasons & that works for them & others a non vdi works for them doesn't by far make any detector junk just an opinion of what what works best in there ground spots etc we all have different places to hunt none are the same & we all have different learning abilties,& like different things
