Went in the woods by the river today ! my first woods hunt. The first time out where I did not find a coin! I had researched that an old house and wood mill had been there built in the latter 18th century! Took me a while to find it as I was not even finding any signigant iron. Then a piece of solid iron, apiece of an cast Iron pot! Looked around and spotted a rectangular depression in the groud about 30 yards up from me !! No visable foundation but I knew I had found it.Only got 2 spend 1 hour there once I found it ! My favorite find is what I think is an old chest locking clasp? I have not cleaned it up yet. What is best method for Iron? The ox shoe I just scrubed with a nylon bristle brush and water. The turned wrought Iron hook lock ? The other hinge piece, large piece ofl lead. A harness rosette ? Is that what it is called? Oh yeah on my way back 2 the truck my detector stumbled on the Cool oldsmobile reflectors and 1 cufflink all really close together nothing else around!! I bet there was a story behind that!!
