so I am in a bit of confusion, a dateless buffalo is worth .05 cents

a fellow came into my shop the other day with this acid in a bottle called Nic-a-Date and a toothpick wanting me to put it on my dateless buffalos to try to raise a date off of it. he even demonstrated it in front of me and it actually brought the date out to be seen unmagnified but it also left a bit of residue on the coin as well.

What are your thoughts on this process??

These acid dated coins are only worth a premium if they are key dates. Also most people do this to fill holes in personal folders. You can Also get a bottle of etching something from radio shack for half the price and twice the liquid

It works well, and it is good to check for key dates. A key date cull has more value than the $.05.

Dateless buffaloes are worth a bit more than 5 cents if you sell them yourself.

A nic-a-dated coin is quite undesirable numismatically, but a key date with acid marks is still a key date and so it will still sell for a premium, just a much smaller premium than a normal key date coin.
