My brother had a lot of problems with the transmission on his. Seems its just a rubber band of some sort. It will cost more than twice the purchase price you paid to fix the Tranny if it goes out. My brother is convinced they are timed to go out after 100k miles or so. Hope he is wrong, it is a good looking car.

Congrats Jeff, I drove an '96 Saturn for 10 years and 160k, and gave it to my daughter for her first car - great car, zero trouble!

At least until a driver from across the water well South of Europe, unfamiliar with US driving laws rear-ended her and sent the Saturn to the scrap yard.

He did attempt to evade the issue, but his van died before it could get away. Too many parts fell off it!

Man, I didn't know Mattel was makin cars! haha, just kiddin. In this part of the country that vehicle would price at about 4 grand as everything is overpriced up here. For a thousand you didn't get hurt. My main question is, does it have tunes? And remember, if it gets you from point A to point B reliably, it's a good ride.

Since it's your new treasurer mobile, you should cut a coin slot in the boot so you can fill it with clad. Lol

all it has is a radio . I haven't set the Channels Yet,
but I'm guessing it has FM too :tongue3:

I got Crap Lucky on the Price, but I guess I was due.
in less then 2 Months,

I found out after my inspection was Expired, My
explorer would never pass an inspection again.

My Lawn mower Blew up on it's second Use this season.

and My refrigerator decided It liked to warm things up,
instead of cool them down.

so getting this for $1200 Total with taxes, transfers & a tank of Gas,

Then selling my Explorer for $200 is at least a Step in the right Direction.

I'm only down $1000 since yesterday.
and can now look into a Mower .

Living with a Mini Fridge that used to be my Nieces is getting me By on the Fridge.

and I would have Preferred all wheel Drive of course,
but Front wheel drive will be safer in the winter.

just can't do Donuts :(

I owned 2 different Saturns, for over 20 yrs. Base models, stick shift. I'm guessing yours is automatic?
I liked them, the Mr hated them. He called them Matchbox cars, too! LOL! Mine sat so low to the ground, the few times he had to drive it, he would open the door, and roll out of it onto the driveway, then stand up. :laughing7:

The transmission cables on the stick shift models will break around 60-100k miles, leaving your stick totally flaccid. You can still manipulate it into gear, from under the hood, if you know what you're doing. I've never had a transmission go out on one, though. For what you paid for it, you could buy a whole new transmission, if ever needed.

One I kept for about 13 yrs, had over 160K miles. It just got to where every other month, something else would go. The headache of the breakdowns, call the tow man, repairs, was just as costly as a new car payment. So I traded it in, They only wanted to give me around $1000 for it, and I had just put 4 new tires on it, 3 weeks earlier. I told the sales mgr, I wasn't planning on buying a new car, just THEN, or I'da just bought 1 new tire. They gave me $1500. I liked that better. Got a brand new Suzuki SX4, for right at 10k. Last day of the month, the car listed for $14k, I felt I got a decent deal.

Enjoy your new car! If the upholstry/seats is still decent, cover them with beach towels or protect them somehow. When I jerked the towels of the seats of mine at the dealership, they looked pristine brand spanking new! I think that actually shocked the sales mgr, lol. He'd a probably gotten more for just the seats, than the whole car, if he pieced it out. :laughing7:

yea I'm not used to Crouching down to Get in.

the seats are Very nice & Clean. That won't last long.

The odd thing, The Ceiling Headliner.
apparently the Owner before this guy, or a kid,
stabbed the Headliner repeatedly for some reason.
It is obviously Stabbed & Cut as if someone was trying to
kill the ceiling :laughing7:

It is not real bad, Perhaps a Dozen stabs Tops,
most just appear to be from the point of a knife.
& who Looks up while driving anyway ?

And it treats me well till inspection is due 6/17 I'll have gotten my $1000 out of it.

LOL, that happened on one of mine...... Florida sun and no carport/garage.
Headliner just fell down on my head one day, while driving. (It had been slowly coming loose, for a while, it wasn't a total shock when it happened). At least I didn't freak out, I just got it off my head, to where I could see. :laughing7:
They maybe tried to re-glue theirs/yours up, idk. :dontknow:

Do get you a towel or two, at least for your seat. That way, when you take someone on a date, you can take the towels off, and it will look real nice and clean.
I always said, I can have a new looking car, anytime I want. I just take the towels off the seats. :laughing7:
