What's new

No, you stepped my 1st thread halfway thru, I'm doing just fine. your loss.

Just curious. Is there anything in Australia that doesn't kill or maim?
Our sheep are pretty tame.

But nervous 🤣
We add valium to their feed routine to counter that. 😀

Hey, this was funny. In Tasmania they grow opium for medical pharmaceutical use. At an adjoining farm some fencing got damaged and about a hundred sheep found their way into one of the crops and started eating it. By the time it was discovered the sheep were off of their heads and all walking in a continual circle for hours on end oblivious to efforts to round them up and move them 🤣

Here in the Pacific Northwest we don't have deadly snakes or spiders (in general)
but we do have a lovely little bit of fauna that hangs out in the forest, just waiting
for some poor SOB to walk by...aptly known as "Devil's Club".

I am told it also has medicinal properties. If you get stung by Devil's Club, you can take the
stalk, cut off the spines and mash it up, then apply to the wounded area..it kills the pain.

We also have some evil squirrels that are not to be trusted with sharp objects...

And then there's our kitty cats....sweet little things, they are.

The Devils club is one nasty plant, we encountered it a few times in BC.

Neither seem that pleasurable to step on. If I had to choose however, I’ll take the left🤣. This whole thread has inspired me to wear shoes more often 🤣
RU plugging his plug?😁

Also always good to wear shoes when hunting beaches, I wear water shoes or diver booties. Found this lovely gem years ago in the dry. It was only a couple inches down and was laying with points up. Someone in bare feet walking over this beauty would have had a bad day and would probably need a tetanus shot.

I keep this in my pouch so when people ask if I found anything, I'll pull this out to show how we detectorists help clean up trash and potentially harmful stuff. I'll also show this to the lifeguards and they're really glad I found it, one less first aid emergency they'll need to deal with.

Tenserfoot am I ? I was prospecting before I could walk (literally) 3rd generation.
Your misfortune & none of my own.
Well I'm sure gonna miss you ! Wear boots !!! :laughing7:

I hike a lot in the PNW, Devil's Club especially likes marshy areas. One day I'm traversing a bog carefully stepping on exposed rocks when I lost my balance and reached out to grab the closest stalk. A-yup, Devil's Club. After that, "tenderhand" would have been appropriate.

Bye, bye.
I’m sure it’s already been said, but I’m not gonna waste my time looking through all these pages for it. This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departure.

Got in a huff over a tenderfoot designation? Good thing he left, or, how bad would he have reacted to simple detecting questions and answers. I guess we should have called him tenderego.
