NON-MEMBER BANKS!

I WENT TO 4 SEPARATE BANKS TODAY. (WEBSTER, B OF A, CITIZENS, AND SOVEREIGN). NOBODY WOULD SELL ME A BOX OF NICKELS! RRR! DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT A GOOD AMOUNT WOULD BE TO ASK FOR, WITHOUT GETTING TURNED AWAY? I'VE BOUGHT 20$ OF NICKELS BEFORE WITH NO PROBLEM...

Hope your not yelling at the tellers too. It's hit or miss with non-member banks, regardless of the amount you ask for. Keep on keepin on.

i only ask for regular coins at banks i am a member of and it is usually only 10 rolls of 1 or 2 types of coins b4 asking for halves.

Most places won't sell you boxes unless you are a member because it costs them money to order it. Plus, CWR generally have better luck than boxes. So just buy some CWRs.

I usually only ask for boxes at banks I have an account with. As an example, I've become "bank buddies" with two tellers at a Keybank, but I don't have an account there. I asked one if she could sell me a box of coins, but she can't sell that many to non members. I was nice about it, especially considering that my one and only Franklin came from a teller tray at that bank. Also, even if you do have an account, some banks won't have enough Nickels on hand to sell you a box as well as keep up with demand from other customers/businesses.

I had a teller at a local branch turn into a difficult person last week, and wouldn't even sell me a single roll of dimes. Sometimes you'll get the occasional teller that loves weilding power with stuff like that.

no, i'm very nice to all tellers. some are just tough especially in a cruddy city like bridgeport CT. they don't give money to anybody without an account. not that the c.r. hunting in CT is that great, in fact, it sucks!

I would just get boxes from your banks where u have an account. Most are ok with giving you whatever you ask for as long as you are not overly greedy. I usually find that a branch will give you at least 1 box per denomination per week as long as you ask nicely. Sometimes they can't spare any and if that is the case I thank them anyway and go on to another branch where I can usually score one.

I know CW rolls are great, but I have had amazing luck with boxes of nickels (usually at least one war nickel or buff per box) and halves (usually $100 in silver per box). I have had ZERO, repeat, ZERO luck with dimes though. I hate dime boxes. I spent $500 in dime boxes the night before easter, and would have had better luck waiting for a magic egg from Peter Cottontail.......
