I went to one local, heavily used beach yesterday on the Chesapeake. The water had blown out maybe 40 to 50' from the low tide mark. Now I know why I don't go in the water. The amount of BIG broken glass there along with sharp aluminum was amazing. I spotted a few bottles with necks sheared off just waiting for a swimmer to come along. Ugh.

There were very few good targets there. The place gets hammered daily by guys with underwater machines and wetsuits in the summer and fall months. I found some coins, a few toys, a junk watch and to my amazement, this ca 1900-1915 intact beer bottle lying with the new stuff. Standard Brewery Co. Baltimore MD. Not cleaned up yet.

Did you get anything after the storm? IMG_0793.webp

Must see the stuff! Maybe I'm the only one who took the machine out of the closet! Oh NO! It was in the TRUCK all week. It has never been in a closet! Maybe it feels neglected. I should go dig this weekend to make it feel good about itself.

NICE OLE BOTTLE

I didn't get out - was on a plane flying up from Florida. As we approached DC, I looked out the window and down on the Potomac. Wow! The water was way out. All I could think about was how I should have come home a couple days earlier..actually, I am still thinking about that. I did get out Monday and walked up on 4 nice white quartz points and a broken black drill. I found a stunner today. Thin, narrow white quartz beauty. Just gorgeous and with very sharp sides and tip. A little lack of symmetry on the shoulders is the only issue. This helps in getting over my bad timing coming back home.

Sweet recovery Smokey! Great for you very nice bottle

I went back. Didn't detect much, sore hip. Anyway, the state cleared off all the lovely driftwood and debris not under water, and even raked the sand smooth at the dune edge where the grass is. Some swimmers are going to be in a world of hurt as there were a lot of half broken bottles laying out 30'. I think the water came in before the clean up crew, so they are still there.
