Not an artifact but thought it might be of interest to some on this forum. Found this book in a box my father purchased years ago at an estate sale in N.W. Arkansas, "Hastain's Township Plats of the Creek Nation" (317 pages, published in 1910). The following is a brief description from Abebooks.com. "Edward Hastain (1869-1943) was an attorney who came to Muskogee, Indian Territory, around 1900. After becoming interested in land ownership of properties in Indian Territory, he compiled and published this land ownership atlas. It provides a quick and factual reference to the original owners of these lands in Indian Territory. Used by abstract and title firms, the legal profession, county clerks, the various land administrative offices of the Creek, Seminole, Cherokee, Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes, land investors and speculators, and even the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).

Looks very detailed.

Now that's a cool find and could come in real handy!

That looks like surveyor topographic maps there. That should be the holy grail as far as locating hunting grounds. Google earth has nothing on that book. I say you hit a home run there!!

That's a nice find! I would love to see what it shows particularly here in SW Georgia.

Unfortunately, it is only of the Creek Nation in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma. It is extemely detailed (317 pages, all as detailed as the photo) and I'm sure would be of great use to someone in that area, for both pre-historic and especialy historical surveys. I live in N.E. Alabama so it is really of no help to me other than it is extemely interesting.

That's a really nice book to have if you metal detect. It's a little west of where I hunt but I would love to have it in my collection, as would most oklahoma treasure hunters I'm sure. [edited for me forgetting what the original post said.]
