Had to go into town to pick up some kitty food for the wife, so figured I would MD a couple of hours at the soccer field that has been so good to me.. I have gone over the whole thing, but figured I might have missed some things. Amazingly, I have cleaned that place out. Only got one quarter, 2 dimes, and 7 pennies... Then went across the street to the tot lot and found a few clad coins, total was $3.03 for the afternoon... BUT... on the way home, I finally got the nerve to stop by this roadside tavern/bar that I have been eyeballing since I started MD'ing again.. It has a huge grass area around one side, and the whole back, with a huge firepit in the center of it where they have a big bonfire party every weekend, and the place gets packed...
The owner was a really nice old coot, and told me to "knock yourself out" after I introduced myself, my hobby, and asked permission to MD there. He was having a beer with another guy at a table, and after he told me I could, he looked at his friend and said "hell, with all the partying that goes on out there, you will probably find a lot of stuff"... His friend agreed and of course I couldnt thank him enough...
I was going to hit it early sunday AM, as they will have another bonfire on Saturday and Sunday, but I am too excited and think I will get up early and hit it tomorrow... I will, of course, give you all a report tomorrow.. Cross your fingers for me, I cant help but think of how many pocket spills and lost jewelry can happen when people party and get drunk...

I am in Central Florida....
I think I have given up on this place.. I spent six hours using the new shooter coil I bought just to work this site.. A half a 5 gal bucket of beer tops and pull tabs later, I started running into a lot of melted aluminum. Seems the owner takes all the ashes from the pit (along with all the metal that people throw into the bonfire) and scatters it around the property, and has for almost 20 yrs..
I did not find ONE coin this time.. I worked quite a bit of the outer edges, in the tree's, and along the whole fence line. I was very discouraged to say the least.
I may give it another try later, but I feel too negative about it right now. Where I come from, outside beer sales must have the tops removed before they leave the bar to go outside.. That is apparently not the law here by the number of beer tops I found there.

I still cant believe I didnt find any clad whatsoever there. Maybe someone else is working it too, and they are ignoring everything but good clad signals?

Anyway, things aint always what they appear...

That really sucks man, even with the small coil and not a lick of clad, its hard to go back after not even digging a single coin. I have this old fairgrounds I hunt and the area around the grandstands is just like that, buried in pulltabs and other metals but I know has never been hunted and must be brimming with good stuff yet sometimes not a single coin. I usually dont hunt it very much but try to now and then simply because it is such a challenge and eventually I will get down to the good stuff. I think that somewhere around every 150 pulltabs you will dig up a ring, HH...Shoot
