There is a little story about how I came to dig this but for now I'll stay on point. At first Buckleboy and I thought this was likely one side of a pocket knife. After getting it home and closer inspection I'm not so sure. i wonder now mostly because the bottom end is round so i'm thinking possibly an ice pick? A letter opener? I also welcome any comments about the figure on the item. He appears to be a warrior? There is a star on his head band and stars around his head. A deer on the shield as well as coat of arms?? At the top of the shield? At his feet is what looks to me like an eagle. Is he holding a spear? There appears to be feathers or something tied to the top. The awesome thing is that it is silver. it is very thin metal as well. The pencil is for size reference. Thanks for any and all input. Thank you, Shane

No idea really...but that think is freakin sweet!!!! It looks hand-carved, maybe one of a kind? A letter opener also makes sense to me...I'm really hoping someone can ID this for sure! Killer find!

Hello Shane,

I suggest that's Diana, Goddess of the Hunt,
with a few American embellishments. I'd add, also as a possibllity, the handle portion of a wax seal.

Beautiful piece, sir.

Is the back hollowed out to hold an ice pic or letter opener? Or is it threaded like a top for a lamp? Maybe take a pic of the back side :P

I thought it was a man but you may very well be correct. This thing just keeps getting better and better! She does appear to have breast and now looking closer it is a flag she is carrying, not a spear.

Weighted silver handle half from a victoria button hook. Not exact but close.

Thats a European Red Deer if that helps.

During the Hunt brothers silver bubble, and not knowing any better, I stripped the silver off an antique hair brush and hand mirror set.. Im not saying its from a hair brush set but the silver was about the same thickness.

Im convinced that it is from a Victorian button hook. learn something new every day. Until this I had never heard of such an animal. Thanks a million for the participation. I'll mark this as solved. HH- Shane
