Went out a few days to a new spot where I need to search in grids due to the size of the property. Searching day 1 a size 75' x 50' and only dug 12 beer cans and 5 screw caps in a time of 1 1/2 hours and the sun was fading into the night. Worked my way to a old maple tree when I got a i got a low ping and almost thought of just walking by due to the cans I have already dug up. But its always dig everything so I Kneeled down and just 2" was a dirty kids to or so I thought. I decided to call it a day. Later that night I decided to clean the gun and much to my surprise there was a lever on the barrel that when I pulled it back a knife came out. Well see it for yourself

Now that is a different and interesting find. I still see those for sale at flea markets. Lots on ebay right now. It looks like it is patterned after a striker fired pistol. Although Browning used striker in the .25 caliber Model N and H&K in the P7, strikers became popular with Glock starting in 1980s. I would say that gun was made after 1980. BUT I am not expert on the matter, just a guess.

So it is just a knife ? or WHAT ?

Nice find, but just a novelty item. Still available today in various designs. Here's a similar one:

Yours has "China" stamped on it, so likely made after 1979 when the US re-established diplomatic relations with China and signed a bilateral trade agreement.

Nice information on the knife. Figured it was just a novelity sold at store's everywhere there are knifes or guns sold.
Thanks for the info

Cool find Pops! Thanks for sharing with us.

Indeed, it's good that you found it, and not a random child. I am a big fan of edged weapons, and I like knives that are kind of hidden under the guise of another object. But if you only knew how tired I am of hiding my collection from my children...
Let me WELCOME you to a fine forum. I think your input about edged weapons will be a plus here
