Ok I gathered most of them I could find into a pile in front of my azalea yesterday and took a pic. Some are nut stones others are lap stones and some are platform stones for holding stuff kinda like a 3rd hand. Also some hammer stones. I hide them around my yard as it is all mtn stone and every now and then find them again for a picture, lol The other round one was just for fun. Yard art. I have given away more than I have kept but am learning that they are probably more rare than points. I dig these out of rock shelters on private property. I have left stacks of them and regret it now. I know we all post these all the time but check out that azaleas

I always look at the pics before I read. You got me with the last one. I had concluded it was a wheel from a 2,000 BP. Cadillac fleetwood. The grinding stones are rarer here than points, no doubt. Here are a few I recently brought in from my patio. They were getting far too much attention.

These are old pics. You guys are probably tired of my posting them. I have a couple of recently found ones. I'll take their mug shot tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing, great pics.

Nahh Nc I make mine pose every year for the show then back into the gardens they go. I think Bosnmate or Kruger said his had started growing legs!
Nice one you have though.

Nice. That's a beautiful garden as well .... The pics combine two great loves for me.

Here is my one and only and I do believe they are rare. Must of been one or two in the whole camp for everyone to share. I havent found a grinding stone to go with it yet.

very nice Tn, like your Azalea bush and really like the grinding stone.

Here are some items that are always in the way of the vacuum.

btw, that is not an archaic toilet seat, :laughing7: it was used to the point of being worn through.

Some very nice finds everyone!
Here's a metate that I found a couple of weeks ago. It had just washed out of the creek bank---I think it was in a fire pit/midden. I had walked over it on the way down the bank to the gravel bar and when I was coming back up, saw it and bam! realized what it was. So I packed it home. Funny thing is, a few years ago I found a beautiful mano on that same creek bank, just a few feet down from where this was at.
Some pics of the mano/metate and some nutting stones:

Truly amazing :) My entire home & yard portrays my love of the ancient. Tnmountains, thank you for the beautiful display.
Your Azaleas are breathtaking.

Very cool guys!

I was sitting in my pick-up talking to a buddy standing in his yard tonight. He had a ditch dug with a back hoe across his "yard".As he was talking I glanced over to a rock that just didnt look right. It was freshly dug,and tucked under some brush......I told him to go roll it out,and he gave me a quizzical look.....I said,"Roll that out from that bush",its a grinding rock",he did.......and it was!I dont know if the operator tucked it up there to come back at night and get it or what, but it wont be there when he does! :laughing7:I didnt even get a picture.....My bud, took it up to the house and his wife says,"Oh,I can put a plant in it!!!"I am going to go buy a pot and see if we can "trade" 8-)...just what I need....another grinding rock

Hey TN your pictures are just gorgous. There is nothing like the Tennessee Valley in the springtime. The wild Azaleas have started to bloom around here and the wild crabapple too. Makes the air smell like Heaven. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
