Well, I haven’t had any really good finds lately but I have been getting out and enjoying myself with “leisure” hunts.

If you remember the house that I had to mow…I hit that place up again and came up with a little silver and the missing Oceanic Flight 815 plane! :laughing7:

The spoon is cool as it has a patent date of 1915. It was for the Hotel Cleveland that was built in 1918.

One of those Aluminum President Tokens:

Some kind of aluminum “whatsit”:

For all you button lovers I found a decent one. Actually found this one a couple months back and never got to posting it.

Recently I went back to a park that we have hunted a couple times before and didn’t find much. I was driving by the place and saw someone with one of those green garrett detectors coming up the hill from the park. So I got motivated to revisit the spot. So a week later I come back and since we haven’t had rain you could see all the “dead grass plugs” where the guy had dug. He really didn’t dig that many holes and it looked like he just hit the obvious spots. There really is a big lack of shallow targets at this park but I started hitting deep iffy signals. After an hour I had 19 wheat pennies but no silver. I knew there had to be silver. Nate came with me the next hunt and sure enough found the silver. At least I got a silver nickel. When it was all said and done I left with about 40 wheat pennies and 1 silver. Nate leaves with about 15 wheat pennies and 6 silver. :dontknow: I guess I was spending too much time digging wheat pennies.

Here is a compilation of the stuff from the various places/hunts:

I also got out a few time with my water machine. The results were kind of pitiful but if you want to see they are posted here:

:D I tried to hide it under the horse. It's not a complete one. I think it's only the second one this year I have dug. The one to behold is in my beach finds post. That one was complete and a thing of beauty. ;D ;D

Uh Oh Nick did I miss one you found?

IF so sorry. Believe it or not I look at EVERY post in Today's finds trying to find the elusive ZPs. And I try to make a comment on every post that has one.

Now back to our regularly scheduled post...

I can remember a few of my hunts where all I was digging were wheaties (One day 50 wheats, only 2 silver, another day, 30 wheats, no silver). Then there are times where I have found more silver than wheats. You just never know. My overall ratio is about 5 wheats to 1 silver. It's all in the luck of the swing. But I'd certainly rather find the wheats over the clad.

Nice finds, Bob!!

Nice asst. of finds. Lots of wheaties, like the spoon and that buton looks to be old as well

Looks like you have been doing alot of digging that is for sure! Nice finds, I like that button.

Nice post Bob. Sometimes wheaties over-rule the silver...but it beats the snot out of clad
Pretty cool find on the spoon.

Nice post and finds Bob! I also checked out your water hunt. If you can get close to some of those old park beaches, I think some nice finds would come up in the scoop. HH, Mike

Bob,
I like the old button and that spoon is awesome! You're a great guy for leaving all that silver there for Nate to find. ;D
Great post Buddy.
-Doug-
P.S. We've got a lot of woods to cover this winter.

Man, good sakes alive; I don't feel sorry for you one iota! :)
Great job a digging and a sharing! Thanks!

A really good find is in the eye of the beholder. . . I think you did VERY well

Well Bob except for that nice button you're finding my kinds of finds.

Rifle cartrages seem to be my hottest items right now. Many are from old obsolete calibers but still just cartrages. :tongue3:

Speaking of obsolete, you still using a Minlab? ;D

I thinking of getting the SE Pro or 70. I here that new coil solves some issues.

Unbelievable amount of wheat's Bob....seem's every post is "chock full" of them, not that I don't find them but not like THAT,but really not like THAT.I think I get more back in change than diggin' Love the find's ....Great post!!!!

What a great assortment of finds! Something for everyone, including a car cigarette lighter..

The plane is cool. Is that transit token from Akron? I've got one too.

Nice spoon, and that back half of a pickup truck can be made into a trailer..... ;D

Cool finds, Bob! That 1912 wheat is really nice!

Thanks Dan.
I agree - my usual ratio of wheat to silver is about 6 to 1. I really believe that when the 20 or 30 to 1 ratio shows up it's because the detector will not pick up the deep silver but will pick up the deeper wheat pennies that are larger in diameter and have the corona effect.

Pretty cool find on the spoon.

True. Unless the clad consists mostly of quarters. ;D Clad pennies are very annoying.

Badger - if someone could convince me that the SE would give me an extra inch of depth I would upgrade instantly. Minelabs are great machines.

Yes the Token is from Akron although it was not found too close to Akron( we are about 45 miles away). Dan has found these tokens (he lives a lot closer to Akron). There are a couple different varieties (different companies issued them). I'm not sure on when they were used either.....

Thanks Joe, Henry and everyone else. Metal detecting is fun and always interesting.
