I searched some old wheat penny rolls that looked to be unsearched and forgotten for some time and I found a really cool off metal lincoln. Please, someone help me to identify this coin. The coin has a plating of some sort; most likely copper, and the underlying metal is white! Really and truly, this coin needs to be checked out. There has not been any alterations to the coin and what you see is real. off metal 009.webpoff metal 001.webpoff metal 012.webp

I was possibly wanting history; stay off my thread if you think this is worth a cent. This is a true experimental or error coin. hopefully someone without comments will answer and not someone that knows nothing about the validity of this coin.

I'm telling you - you're posting in the wrong forum.

If you want to know what it's worth - post it in "What's it Worth?" What's It Worth?

If you want enlightened coin info (and not for us in What Is It?" to try and help) post in "Coins" Coins

I do have a four year degree in Human Behavior and I can tell you the results will keep looping back as they have so far if you keep posting in the "What Is IT?" forum.

I think the suggestion to put it on eBay is a good one.

It is worth what someone is willing to pay. Auction it on eBay and see what happens. If it sells for a ton of money, you will make us all look like fools! Good luck.

How about you stay off with these ridiculous fantasy coins.
I don't believe it's a fantasy coin, just one with PMD. I suspect there was something on the coin (verdigris, glue, paint, plating, etc) that has since come off or has been removed, leaving bare copper underneath. That shows up in stark contrast to the toned/patina in the unprotected areas. Undamaged, the coin was worth maybe $.50, as-is....? I doubt the mint would have had extra budget to experiment in alternative metals during the depression.

I'd be interested to know the wt of the coin.

..Wow, I just realized every coin you have is a RARE FIND and ONE OF A KIND...Plus you are getting the same responses..Wish the best for you. There are alot of smart people on here and its not really a good idea telling everyone they are wrong when you don't hear what you want too

So I have looked at this coin a few times now and what I can see is........./ How be I start off with in my collection I have approximately close to 4000 coins dating back to 1718. Including 2 binders of wheat and to current pennies also all the canadian pennies including errors, no PMD ones unless they are kind of unique. To date I've searched probably well over a 100,000 pennies with a 10x loupe.

I don't see anything in a error type way that would reflect back to the original stamping of the said coin, it's in good legible condition however the marks that appear are in my opinion PMD. I believe as it was stated in a post earlier a quick bath in acetone and it'll remove what's on top yet I believe it's leave spotting where the surface accumulations were.

What area is your degree in? I happen to have several degrees in human behavior. You seem like a rather well educated chap, perhaps you could teach me something from the time frame and paradigm of your degree. Always willing to learn...
