It is iron. It measures about 2-inches long.

Both ends look like they were attached to something.

I don't know all of the dimensions, but this is a pandrol clip to hold rails to railroad ties. The diameter of the rod is approximately 7/8".The one in the picture is chrome because it is a manufacturers brochure picture. These are bare metal in the field. A broken pandrol clip is my guess.

I am not sure this is a pandrol clip. They are not the same. Mine is twisted. It would require a huge force to bend this.

I am still thinking it is part of a cargo hold down piece. Mrtuff seems correct!
