Odd 1715 Beach Find Needs Identified

Found this small piece on the low tide line near the treasure coast. Look familiar to anyone? Very old, highly corroded.

Looks like what's left of a rusty nail to me. Ferrous target I presume?

Looks similar to an old soldering iron tip. Is it brass or copper? Magnetic?
