Well here it is folks.

Found today at my lil "honeyhole". The details are cool, I think its a "fob" of somekind but I'm probably wrong.

Front is "raised" head of a sheep, also raised in front along side of sheep says "Cooper Sheep Dip"

Back says: Willm Cooper and Nephews
177 ILLINOIS ST.
Chicago

So>>can anyone ID this, date this & tell me what it was used for & maybe a approximate value.

Thanks

Neat site about the Coopers.
http://www.dacorumheritage.org.uk/coopers.htm

and another. Looks like they first came to Chicago around 1889-90.

A mention of your fob from Kovels site. I dont have an account to see. EDIT: I created an account but all it does is gives you the price and no picture. It is listed as $110!

And heres a link to a Google Book search that lists them at that address around 1918.

Always an interesting find! Would like to find more only having three and haven't dug one in over 6 years. A friend dug a beautiful one from a Fur company from Chicago and sold it for $140.
