Old confederate camp site help ID

Found this iron piece pretty deep down. I have no clue what it is but was found close to some. 3 ringers and a busted powder flask. Need help!!

Looks like a spike, used with a wedge to split rails. Tony

There is a lot of these punches around here. Used in mining here in the 1880's to drive into rock cracks to pry them apart in this mining area. Same pointed punch/driver as you have, but I'm sure there could also be other uses for them.

If the inside of tube is hollow it maybe a Iron Grip or Support from a Wooden Pole.??vanzutphen
