Re: Old Dog Slide Whistle.
It also appears in Tomart's price guide to Radio Premiums and Cereal Box Collectables as the Three Way Dog Whistle with Sandy's Head dated 1940 (Tomart catalog #R267) and shows a picture that is identical to yours. It also lists another whistle (#R282) that has Annie's head and is dated 1941. No production numbers were available for either one.
The Radio Orphan Annie show was sponsored by ovaltine thru 1941 and by Quaker Puffed Wheat and Rice Sparkies in 1942 when the show was canceled. There was a brief reemergence of Annie in 1982-83 with the 50th anniversary of the show, with three premiums listed for those years.

Ruff, ruff, bowwow, my ears perked up when I heard this whistle was on the board. Sniffing around for one for myself.

That's a great find. So, does the whistle make any noise when you blow into it? I found one years ago as kid (don't know what happened to it) and it made a very high pitched noise. Congrats on a nice find.

Earthworks ... I remember reading somewhere that if you suck in instead of blowing on it - the inverse action will cause the wife to run downstairs ... let me know how it works! (I know....I'm bad!)
