old find from 1960

Back in the younger days I found this along the texas coast. any suggestions.

Might be a Boat Stone a type of tie on weight. We have more experienced members that will know for sure. I need one for my collection 😃

That’s called a boat stone. It’s an atalatl weight. Very nice example. Usually have two holes drilled but not always. Also, that’s made from a fine grained igneous rock like diabase. Not a common rock for the gulf coast. Definitely imported. Maybe from NE Mexico or somewhere farther north than TX.

Thats my thought as well. Its from a small midden along the texas gulf coast. I also found these artifacts erroding on the shoreline. The pottery fragment is not native to the area and I think someone once felt it was from Florida.
