Old Gold cufflink!

Just popped this beauty in one of my colonial farm fields near where I dug a half real last Fall. Rang up as a 9 on the Equinox. Pretty sure its got some age to it but I have no idea really. Possibly early 19th century or older. Any info appreciated

Thanks. The fact that this is high karat gold is the one thing I'm sure about on this piece. As far as approximate age and even ii it is indeed a sleeve button, is still somewhat a mystery. Its construction method is like no other I can find online.

In my limited research online, I cant find anything similar either. I have not found anything other than farmer/hunter dropped canslaw in this field that is much newer than the circa 1783 house nearby. There is a house across the street that is newer but I havn't found anything associated with it so I think its safe to assume the link is circa 1800 until anyone can tell me otherwise. Now what I want to know is why anyone would wear gold cufflinks while tending crops. LOL

Maybe the master of the estate took a spill from his horse during a fox hunt and lost the link

Thanks Art. Went back tonight to look for the other half but no luck. Did find a toasted early copper nearby so more evidence it is possibly early.
