Took a couple days to hit the cold northern waters and enjoyed sunshine, clear calm water with excellent viz resulting in plenty of targets. So glad I brought my snorkel mask! I caught a brief sparkling/shiny glimpse while using the full face mask. I swung my Nox 800 over the area and bam, came away with 2 of the 3 rings I found on the trip. Also found fishing lures and other targets thanks to the mask, including a $20 bill! 20210518_145026.jpg

Get yourself A belly board, I use to use one all the time up north on those clearer lakes, had a very long scoop chipped to the bottom, had a large hold cut in the top of the board for my head and mask area, to the right of this was a built in snorkel - the flexible portion and mouth piece came out the bottom. Sometimes I'd use my detector, other times I'd just go sight-searching. Worked lime a charm!

That sounds very interesting and effective! Do you have any pictures of it? Was it a full size surf board or more of a boogie board?

No, I don't have any pics of it but I built mine out of that blue insulation foam board you can find at most any building supply places. Then it's just a matter of laying everything to fit you, i.e., length, width, etc. I stopped my length just below my waist so I had more leg freedom when using fins.
