I dug this at an early colonial settlement site this weekend. I also dug a 1732 KGII half penny about 5 feet from this part. I have no idea what it is but it is pretty heavy and is mostly brass with some rusted iron too. Anyone have an idea?

Commutator for a model T perhaps? Half way down the page here; Technical Data
Pictures of the actual item (rather than diagram) are easily googled.
