Old knife looks hand made. Not sure?

[DJKelly]

Length of knife is around 10.5 inches long. Engraved on blade Landers Frary and Clark AE TNA Works. Any information about company or age of knife would be appreciated.

Should be Landers Frary and Clark AETNA .. If you do a google search, there seems to be quite a few hits.

Yes I have found them on google but I am having a hard time figuring out how old it is. All of the items made by them so far seem to have been mass produced with molds as far as I can tell. This knife in particular seems custom made if not the blade than the handle at least. I am no expert on knives but if anyone could look at these extra pictures and tell me if they agree or not it would be helpful. Thank You!!

The first three are one side and the last three the other.

I have a knife that says original bowie on the blade could it be true?

[stefen]

Need to verify.

How about some historic background on the knife...

[DJKelly]

Mine came from the ground. Shallow 1-2 inches a couple of weeks ago in Cumming GA. But I think you might be asking traderoftreasures?

[diggummup]

A similar knife appears in a 1919 catalog from the J. W. WARREN COMPANY. It is a "kitchen slicer" knife. It's listed as a LANDER FRARY & CLARK KNIFE though the blade marking appears to be different. This should help you put a date on it.

The top knife

Actually, I was asking you...my apologies for not addressing you...

I think you have a Bowie knife made by this company...some are going for about $4000 or so.

Thank you Stefan, now I have a good idea of the year and style so I am gonna green check this one. Thank you for all of your help!!

Diggummup, thank you for the date and image. My father and step mom have been living in Hollywood FL for the last 40 years or so. How is the hobby down there? I should be visiting in the next few months or so and will be bringing my detector with me. I have yet to use my White M6 on a beach.

Nice knife.

What's a 'green check'?

[DJKelly]

The green colored check mark that says your what is it has been solved. They will show up left of the title on the forum.
