Hey everyone,

Hope you are all getting out in these cooler temps. I know I have been. But not as much as I would like to be hunting. Weekends are the only time I can get out any more. And time is limited then to. I would like to take one nice 8 hr day though and hunt this place. I bet I could pull about 10 to 15 silvers in a 8 hr hunt.

This whole take you see here isn't a whole lotta time spent in the field. Maybe 10 hrs. Silver has been starting to show it's face more than once though per outing. As soon as things die off I'll really have some goods to show.

I got nice spots but they are ruff. I had so many chiggers on me Saturday it was rediculous. I basically had to throw all my clothes away. But I had to get that silver right. I've been scouring over a park where there is alot of targets left behind.

I've been carefully listening closely to the deep chirp of the Dfx telling me there may be silver down there. I have came up with alot of coins past the 6 inch mark. It almost seems like I've been the deepest hunter here so far over the yrs. It's been hunted alot by the lack of good strong signals I don't come by to often.

Enough of the park and onto the finds. Don't take this the wrong way but nothing to old and nothing to rare. I like to be touching back atleast pre 1900 on finds. But time and lack of researching I'll have to settle for 1900 to 1950 finds.

Scored alot of nice mercs. This place is known to put out alot of them. Although a barber does jump into the pouch here and there. Any silver is fun to find. But alot less excitement from a rosie to a barber. I did get a neat little 5 cent token. And a nice 36 buff.

I had some more pics but my camera is acting funny so I missed a few. Had a nice 20 old coin day in 3 hrs last week. But the pic won't come off the camera. I could have shown you them straight from the ground. But they are up there cleaned.

I did however get this funny little but heavy piece of silver with a diamond in the center. Is this some sort of cuff link. It's marked 925 on the back. It's a 2 piece welded together by 4 bars on each corner. It slide onto something.

It was deep around 8 inches or so on a hard packed path. I love finding deep misses. Got 2 indian heads a 02 and a 83. Got a 09 wheat and a 18 D. Other than that just some relics. Did get a cool little lead press for small portable engines. But in the recovery the top thin layer of bronze or copper got pealed.

It was down really deep because of the weight of it. I scratched it being lazy not thinking it was something. Gave a strange signal and was about a foot deep.

Once again thanks for looking

Hh Jer

An awesome day indeed, those Mercs look great

Great digs! Just out of curiousity are you hunting in a modified relic mode setting?

I view posts like yours, because frankly, my recent hunts have been horrible! I'd kill to have a 10 hour hunt like yours. Really. Kill. Such a great mixture, and with the most exalted of all, a token. Envious, oh yes, very envious. Keep it up, and keep posting.

Jer,

I thought someone had brought back one of my old posts there for a second, until I saw it was you. ;D ;D

To the skilled hunter as yourself, there's a lot of good coins left in the ground at sites that have been detected for years by your average hunter.

I don't have to fight the chiggers over here...just the pesky gnats that like to fly into your eyes, or an occasional biting fly.

Congrats on all your finds!! I'd love to see what you could find in an 8 hr day. Although, the more time you have to work a spot, the less there will be at that site on future hunts. You choose how often you want to deplete the silver in an area. It's the law of decreasing silver coin returns in the turf. Soon, the park I'm knocking them dead at right now will be just a bunch of great memories, along with a pile of silver to look at.

Good luck on your future hunts, Jer!

Do you hear the deep tone in Mixed Mode/w a high DC-50 or so setting?

Thanks alot everyone.

Over the past few yrs I have found alot of old coins in this place. Great area to hunt with alot of rich history.

Yes, Basinall it's a mod program. It's the eeeprom high pro program with tweaked settings. 1400 DD coil also. Will work great on the stock also. If you want some adj just pm me and I'll tell you how to run it.

Hey Carl hang in there. Get into some wooded areas in the older parts of town. It is getting hard to find treasure any more in the obvious locations. Look for patches of pine tree's off rds and such for foundations. Lots of nice maps to view online also for free. Hang in there man your time is just a swing away.

Thanks alot Captn lol. It felt like one of your post while writing it. You hit the nail on the head brother. You know alot about this hobby yourself. I can tell that by your remarks out there. They match my thought process and we both are succesful at this.

I had a great park like that a few yrs ago. It took yrs to clear out. Now it's just a dried up 250 acres. I went to this place like 4 to 5 days a week at a time for yrs. Found hundreds of indians and lots of barbers. Hunt them in moderation. Knats and bugs are a pain here also. Chiggers are here and there lol. But when your getting good signals in them you tend to forget them even though they are scratching the hell out of you.

No Sam I don't use mixed mode although some guys out there say that is when the unit is at it's deepest. I like d.c of 45 best data run maxed out ac pre amp at 4 acc rej -40 through plus 95 plus some other tweaks.

Thanks again guys

Awesome hunt Jer. A skilled operator can sure put a dent as to what's left in the turf. You are one skilled operator with your DFX buddy. Keep pluggin' away..but if you're like me...I like to find one or two...or a few ;D..then vamoose and leave some for another day.

Man it looks like you have really hunted that park! Keep up the good work and keep on hunting! :)

Wow, that is quite a collection of finds. Rings, coins, wheats, you the man today! That is a good park.

That Silver pic look's Beautiful Jer......I think the Fall was meant for you  Great dig's and the Best of Luck to ya!!!!!

Like you said, any silver is good silver. Maybe the sight hasn't been hunted much due to the attack guard chiggers! Those nasty little things will tear you up. Keep em coming.

That's a haul right there for sure. Great hunt Jer WTG

Nice hunting Jer, I like the token! HH, Mike

Thanks alot everyone

Yes, Sf you are right. I try not to pound them to hard. Sometimes I'll leave a good sight for 6 months and hunt others. Then go back and dib and dab at the place. It's a nice feeling knowing you always have some where to go.

Yes I can't wait till the fall. I do 95% woods hunting. It's been dry and hot this summer with alot of growth. Yes I am sure some of the finds have been looked over at this place. No body wanted to get messed up in the tougher parts of the park.

They left them areas for me I guess lol. They hit the main open areas of the place hard though. But this is a huge area and I keep finding little over looked pockets. Can't wait to get back out there again tommorow. This place gives alot of post 1900 finds.

But in the past 2 yrs I have found 5 LC there also. One a drapped bust 1803. There was a cabin or to in these woods at some point. I have found about 15 flat buttons also.

Thanks again everyone

HH Jer
